For more than two decades, Fragomen's Government Affairs group
has been a driving force in employment-based immigration legislative
and regulatory policy. As registered lobbyists, the firm provides
strategic advice and representation to multinational employers,
startup companies and trade associations in obtaining the benefits
available under the U.S. Immigration and Nationality laws and regulations.
Fragomen's Government Affairs group provides legislative and regulatory
expertise on a complete range of immigration and visa related matters.
On behalf of our clients' interests, Fragomen advocates positions
before the U.S. Congress, the Administration and the relevant regulatory
agencies - the United States Citizenship and Immigration Service
(USCIS), the Department of Labor and the Department of State. Through
direct contact and scheduled meetings, Fragomen encourages the U.S.
Congress and the Administration to pass and sign into law new initiatives
facilitating international hiring or to oppose initiatives that
would impede our clients' ability to recruit and hire internationally;
urges Congress to amend an existing statute to ameliorate the unintended
consequences of an existing law which harms a particular client
or industry; and persuades an agency or administrative court to
interpret, reinterpret or implement a statute in the manner intended
by Congress.
Through our Government Affairs group, clients may become active
advocates on the immigration issues important to their company's
growth. Fragomen spearheads grassroots employment based immigration
advocacy campaigns, working closely with clients and their in-house
government affairs representatives to seek business immigration
reform.
Fragomen is also strongly associated with government agencies across
the United States. We work closely with USCIS (formerly INS) officials
at the national, regional and local levels regarding USCIS policy
and procedures. USCIS often asks the opinion of lead attorneys in
our firm before implementing new policies and procedures within
the agency. We also have liaisons to all regional service centers
and the Department of Labor, as well as the Department of State.
